New Mokume-Gane is a totally new method to combine Art Clay Silver and Art Clay Copper.
Mokume-Gane is a technique that is hundreds of years old and was first used in Japan, for forging swords fittings.
“Mokume” means wood pattern and “Gane” a metal alloy of various metals, in this case, silver and copper. It takes a lot of practice and time to apply the traditional technique of the old masters, therefore Aida – Japan developed a new method that makes it easier to make beautiful unique jewelry using this new technique.
Firing a combination of copper and silver requires a carbon technique. After firing, the jewel needs to cool down very calmly, so the piece can be picked up the next day at the earliest. Are you not in a position to do so, then we’ll send the jewelry to your address.
This workshop is intended primarily to get knowledge of this technology. This may be the stepping stone to the certified New Mokume-Gane training? In this workshop you will make two pieces of jewelry, a pendant or charms with a marbling technique and a silver pendant or small earrings with a cheerful rotating copper pattern. The workshop includes 20 grams of silver clay, 25 grams of copper clay, use of tools, jewelry box, refreshments and a light lunch.
Costs ad € 125,00 per person.
