Photo Polymer & UV-Resin

FotoFlowery Pendant
Always gaining for new techniques, today I myself follow a workshop again. Photo Polymer & UV-Resin taught by Joyce van Roosmalen. Her studio "Joy for Art" is located in Veghel. The workshop includes silver clay, materials and use of tools. This saves a lot of heavy lifting, normally we carry incredibly much with us.

Renske Dussel of "Renske-Art" in De Bilt and Shirley Wouters of "Aware Jewels" in Uithoorn go as well, reason why carpooling is a good option. We agree to leave together around 08.30 hours from De Bilt. Shirley and I have to get up a early, Renske can sleep late. Shirley offers to drive the trip to Veghel and asks us - if necessary – to take the return trip at our expense. No problem, Renske has all the qualities required for this. I myself have the sense of direction of a silly one and even manage to get lost with the help of navigation ;-)

We arrive early in Veghel. Thankfully Joyce is already present and she provides us in no time with coffee and/or tea. A moment later Monique Drent of "Studio Miek" in Budel and Irma Henstra of "Silver Art" in Leeuwarden are coming in. A cozy small group, not too big.

After the explanation by Joyce we can get to work and then it turns out that I really could have prepared better. For example, I have not been thinking about the design therefore I have no clear basis for making the mold of photopolymer. Hurray for internet and our good friend Google, images abound!
And then finally draw something yourself eh!

We use the self-made template to work out a beautiful pendant with
silver clay. Drying, minimal finishing and firing are the subsequent steps.

At noon we have time for lunch.
Tasty sandwiches which - according to taste - can be topped with cheese,
meat or salads.

After lunch we solder a bail at the back of the pendant. Then we color
the front with pigments and UV Resin. Hereby the end result.

Joyce, thanks for your expert guidance.
Shirley and Renske, thanks for the company during the return journey.
And to all ladies: thanks for a great fun day.
Again I learned something, lots of laughs, good food and thoroughly enjoyed our cooperation!
