Gold with an Egyptian Tone

10/4/2014

Today is World Animal Day and I like to leave pampering our pets to Michael and the kids while I hangout in my studio. Shirley Wouters from "Aware Jewels" in Uithoorn will extend her skills with the Art Clay Silver Supplement Training Gold at Studio "Nevada's Dream" in Harderwijk.

And by now as to mention a habit, again a glorious sun is shining, it's beautiful autumn weather. A great beautiful day, colored by glittering gold, a color that fits oh so well with this sunny autumn day.

Gold is a very expensive material to work with. It definitely matters working accurate to minimize material waste. Therefore it is useful to think in advance for a design and to proceed focused. And Shirley has understood this well by already preparing small forms of cork clay. The work with a cork shape allows to create quite a design with only 3 grams of gold clay.

Everything is going well, a nice silver base ring serves as a starting point and gets a beautiful golden pyramid on top. This pyramid rises up from a circular silver plateau and the whole forms a beautiful combination of silver and gold.

During lunch we enjoy our "addiction": iceberg lettuce with mango, feta cheese, cashew nuts, black olives, olive oil and chili. Delicious and só healthy!

Shirley, I would like to thank you again for your cozy and creative input, I enjoyed wonderful. We meet again on the first of November, I'll see you and Edith van Leeuwen for the Supplement Porcelain.
