Something with Teachers and Porcelain . . .

What is the saying again? "If an elephant in a china cupboard"?

Today we complete a supplement training Porcelain. I was able to replace the so-called elephant and enjoy two days of my two talented Art Clay Silver fellow instructors Shirley Wouters of "Aware Jewels" from Uithoorn and Edith van Leeuwen of "ArtiChic" from Hillegom.

Both of them you recognize certainly from my previous blog posts. The ladies have expanded their  experience and talent with designs in which porcelain is processed. And it really becam beautiful jewelry!

Dear girls, thanks for the tremendous cozy days, your commitment, curiosity and enthusiasm. Wonderful that we can reinforce each other in the field of metal clay as well. Thank you also for a good open conversation, sharing ideas and contagious laughter!

This weekend Margit Borst – Topper of Zilver en Zo in Dieverbrug again visited Studio “Nevada's Dream’’ in Harderwijk.

She has focused on the certification for the Art Clay Silver Instructor Course Level 2 EU.
Successfully she has not only worked out neatly the required four projects and all the necessary techniques, no Margit made no less than 5 projects.

Margit, you’re a Topper ;-), your participation was again amazing including passionated patience. Good luck with the module for the Higher certificate.

We keep in touch and when I am given the opportunity, I would like to come along in your studio. Then we make a start with our thought up small technical project!

From Wednesday, November 05 to Sunday, November 09, 2014 in Utrecht, Dutch largest hobby fair KreaDoe took place. Art Clay Silver also has been represented those days.

Under the inspiring leadership of Renske Dussel, a team of certified instructors has offered Art Clay Silver workshops for interested public. The fair was well visited and therefore our stand. Many visitors have found their questions about silver clay and applicable techniques answered, others took part in the workshop and made a wonderful charm or pendant.

5 intensive days of which I myself had the privilege to work five days. Together with other colleagues, we formed a warm and enthusiastic team.

It has ended, the stand is broken down.
Within one hour everything was empty and packed. Thanks to Marty, she came especially from Amersfoort to offer help. I ride with Renske to De Bilt and help her unpack the car. Everything is lugged up and placed in the studio, tomorrow is another day. Renske offers me to drive home, so I immediately have my stuff at home. But not before we close this week together with a greasy bite: French fries and snacks!

Once home I feel how tired I actually am, it's been a special and busy week.
Thanks to Renske Dussel, Charlotte Specken, Shirley Wouters and Edith van Leeuwen I say:
Sleep well and up to KreaDoe 2015!

A "islander" under the spell of silver clay

FotoDesign: Jane Mol
On November 2nd and 3rd Jane Mol visited Studio "Nevada's Dream". Jane was born and raised on Terschelling and moved a few years ago to the mainland, Nieuwehorne to be exact. She attended a workshop Art Clay Silver with my colleague Irma Henstra and became directly enchanted by the silver clay. Internet brought her to Harderwijk, she decided to follow the training Level 1 and thereby join the European instructor network.

We start 2 full days and she completes this level with 6 beautifully finished, technically
sufficient
pieces of jewelry. In between we have interesting and animated conversations. Again it appears that I have met. A special person Jane talks about her childhood and life on Terschelling. Gradually I am learning how radically her departure from the island has been.

The step from the beautiful, peaceful and familiar environment to the fast, busy urban land is enormous. Moreover her husband sails, so Jane contributes mainly alone for caring their children. And in her story I see no lament, I feel a deep respect. Partly for her guts now to take this next step, and her introduction to the world of metal clay. Because this is not limited to Harderwijk and Nieuwehorne. No, metal clay is the world!

Dear
Jane, thanks for your nice quiet presence. We keep in touch to share of your discoveries in Metal Clay.
