Metal Clay Day in Nunspeet

1/18/2015

Regularly I plan a clay date with an Art Clay Silver fellow instructor. Usually I work with Renske Dussel in De Bilt. I recently visited the studio of Edith van Leeuwen in Hillegom. And today I arranged with Frank Hupse in Nunspeet.

He has a welcoming studio at home where he designs jewelry to his own taste and also on commission. We each work with our jewelry and exchange ideas, by which Frank shares his vision of the future in the field of metal clay. His partner Jessica has created a delicious lunch, a hot soup and fresh bread with toppings.

Towards 17:00 I leave for home. Thanks again Frank, it was fun!
When you will come for level 2?

Visiting from Japan

1/3/2015

The year 2015, we start with a date. My contact for Aida Japan - Mai Wada - in the Netherlands.
She’s staying in Rotterdam, with her friend and former fellow student.
I also offered to visit Harderwijk, to catch up and chat.
Friday, January 2nd together with my son Mekhia I head towards Craftlines B.V. in Uithoorn, where Mai and the Art Clay Silver distributor for the Benelux socialize together.
For me a great opportunity to peek at the warehouse of Craft Lines, always fun.

At the end
of the afternoon we leave for Harderwijk.
Along the way Mai explains that she would like to make use of our offer to stay with us, so the next day she can head to Belgium. This I didn’t  expect, I wanted her to lead at least one day through Harderwijk. So I also explain my idea to her.
She
doesn’t need a long time to think about it, she accepts my proposal.

Dinner
for that day, we use the Wok Inn Horst – Ermelo, where we can enjoy unlimited snacking. One moment I am afraid that one has bought too little oysters, those seem to be favorite of Mai.

In the evening we
socialize, since it is more than 3,5 years since I visited Japan.

The next morning we walk early to the historic city of Harderwijk.
As befits a real Japanese, all sights are recorded with the digital camera. Around 11:00 we are at the gate of the Dolphinarium. This time my husband Michael comes with us. All shows are visited, the ray reef, the walrus, sea lions and of course the dolphins. Outside it's raining and a cold, biting wind is blowing. Fortunately, we can get some shelter during the shows.

After a great
day we come home and drop on the sofa, tired and numb with cold.
The pleasant warmth makes us drowsy. Mai eats along a small meal before boarding the train. Michael has made Singapore noodles, a nice ending to this visit.
The train departs at 20:49 pm to Rotterdam and I support Mai to the station to wave goodbye.

Goodbye dear
Mai, we keep in touch. Good flight to Japan and a big hug!
