Just like last year, Margit drives us again. From Dieverbrug she is already in Harderwijk at 07.00 and together we ride to De Bilt, where we pick up Renske. Loaded with kilns, dryers and tumblers we navigate to Bavel.
Once there we install all the workshop materials. At 09.00 the first colleagues arrive. While enjoying a cup of coffee or tea, Peter Venema - director of Craftlines B.V. - starts the day at 09.45 am with a welcome speech. He explains the results and the future of Art Clay Silver.
Also, there’s a surprise for three instructors with the award of the title Art Clay Master. Inge Verbruggen, Renske Dussel, and myself! How cool is that! Very proud I take the award and accompanying flowers. This title is for life and no one takes this from me.
A little later than planned, we begin the first workshop, today arranged by the three newly crowned Masters. One has to make a choice from:
Inge Verbruggen:
- Pendant or earrings with UV-Resin
- Enamel
Renske Dussel:
- Filigrain
- Roses of Art Clay Silver Paper
Henriëtte van Battum:
- Silver Tiny Vessel
- Silver Shadow Box
At lunchtime there is a delicious lunch consisting a well filled vegetable soup and sandwiches. At 17.00 we end the day with a drink. Everyone has made beautiful designs.
Then we go home and unlike this morning the journey takes quite some time. During the traffic jams the sky is getting dark. It has already rained today, but inside it didn’t bother us. The rains that threaten now, eventually persevere and create even more traffic jams. Margit brings Renske and me nicely at home and drives the final part alone.
Dear all, thanks for the great day, a good attendance ensured for socializing and strengthening the mutual bonds. My first night as Master. I go to sleep and in my dreams once more all the good times pass by. See you next year!
